Dear Neighbors and Inhabitants of Kreuzberg
Invitation for a Lay-Down Protest on Oranienplatz
Wednesday, May 21th, 4 – 7 pm
Reasons: Police don’t allow people to lay down on park benches or on the floor in Kreuzberg. The district government decided on March 18th, that every spontanous restistance, occupation of places – specially the reoccupation on Oranienplatz should be defeated by police. (see: https://foodandpeace.wordpress.com/2014/05/09/protest-vor-dem-rathaus-kreuzberg/ ). Because ot this, the police don’t allow us blankets, sleeping bags or camp mats. And that’s not all: If a person tries to sleep on a bench or the ground, the police is disturbing this person. But every human being needs to sleep and to rest!
This new law-and-order policy is not acceptable, because more and more people are homeless or sick and need places, where they can rest, sit and lay down.
How you know: Not all refugees have found a bed and home after the eviction of the camp and are homeless. If they can’t lay down and rest, it’s torture. So let’s struggle against the violations of human rights, which are oppressing and torturing poor people! Let’s come together next Wednesday! Write and paint posters, bring food for the refugees and the participants and flowers for the police men/women to show them, that we respect them as human beings too. Please take a blanket or camping mat and join!
Let’s struggle too for abolishing the neoliberal economy and policy in Berlin, which is making more and more people to „displaced persons“.
